Frequently Asked Question
1. Membership and Sponsorship? I’m lost
At One Child at a Time we have two kinds of subscriptions; membership and sponsorship.
- Membership means you become a member of One Child at a Time. You thereby have the right to vote at the General Assembly and you can run for a post in the board. A membership costs 150 DKK yearly.
- Sponsorship means you become a sponsor of a child and contribute with a monthly contribution. A sponsorship costs 200 DKK monthly.
We hope that you would like to become both a sponsor and a member. That way you are helping in making us do what we love to do without cutting in the sponsorships.
2. 100 % of sponsorship goes to the child. How is that even possible?
We are proud that we can assure that 100 % of your sponsorship goes to the child, without any administrative cuts. The reason behind is that we use money gathered through individual donations and membership fees and use those funds on our already very low administrative expenses. All our manpower in both Denmark and Lebanon work as volunteers, helping in decreasing expenses.
Please consider donating or becoming a member and help us continue being a non-for-profit organisation with zero administrative cuts.
1. How do I become a sponsor?
You become a sponsor when you sign up at our “Become a sponsor” form. You will receive a mail from us, when we receive all the necessary information. The mail will include the name of the child that you have sponsored in addition to his photo and personal information.
2. Can I choose who I want to sponsor?
It is not possible to choose who you want to sponsor. You can only choose the nationality of the child that you would like to sponsor, and then we will designate a child to you. At the end of the day, all the children that we have identified are in desperate need of assistance, and your sponsorship will make a huge impact on their lives.
3. What can I expect from the being a sponsor?
We highly value that you have chosen One Child at a Time as a receiver of your donations. From experience, we know that sponsors would like to know what their money is used for. We therefore aim at continuously updating you on the situation of your sponsored child. At the moment, you can expect to hear from the child twice a year: when the school year starts in September/October and when the school year has come to an end in May/June.
You are of course also welcome to send a greeting to your sponsored child through our “Contact your Child” form. Response time can be up to 1 month, if the child wants to reply to your message.
You can also expect that 100 % of your sponsorship goes to the child. We are proud to say that we have 0 (as in ZERO) administrative cuts from your sponsorship.
As a sponsor you do not have the right to vote in our general assembly meetings that are held every 2 years. To be eligable for voting, please consider becoming a member of One Child at a Time.
4. Can I visit my sponsored child?
Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to visit the children. We are working on making this option available as soon as the circumstances allows it.
5. How do I terminate my sponsorship?
We hate to see you go, but if you have to terminate your sponsorship, you need to send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org at least 1 week before the next transaction is scheduled. If you miss the 1 week deadline we’ll terminate the sponsorship as of the month after.
You’re child won’t receive support untill we have found a new sponsor.
1. How do I become a member?
You become a member by using our “Become a member” form. The yearly fee is 150 DKK.
2. What can I expect from being a member?
As a member, you have the opportunity to run for a post within the board. The General Assembly is held every second year (in even years) in april/may. You can also assist the board in any tasks they see suitable. Contact the board at email@example.com.
By becoming a member you help One Child at a Time with our administrative expenses. You are basically our life line, and without you we would not be able to provide the assistance to the children.
